The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 130 suspects comprising 113 foreign nationals primarily of Chinese and Malaysian origin, for their alleged involvement in high-level cybercrimes, and hacking.
The arrest was captured in a statement, signed by the spokesperson of Police, Muyiwa Adejobi and issued on Sunday.
The police said the suspects comprising 87 males and 26 females, primarily of Chinese and Malaysian origin were also arrested following their alleged involvement in activities that threaten national security.
No fewer than 17 Nigerian collaborators, comprising four males and 13 females were also arrested during what the police described as a strategic operation.
The operation in partnership with the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC), was led by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Benneth Igweh.
The police noted that its operative conducted a coordinated raid on a building at the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja, where the suspects were reportedly using computers and other sophisticated devices to facilitate criminal activities.
“We are investigating the matter and scientifically analysing the exhibits recovered from them. The suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of our investigations.
“We will update the public on the outcomes of our investigations as and when due,” the statement said
