The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), in continuous demonstration of its commitment to public health safety, credible and sustainable wastewater management in the State, has sealed off Leventis House in Apapa Lagos and the Exclusive Mansion Hotel on Ayilara Street Surulere.
The Leventis House and the Exclusive Mansion Hotel were sealed for engaging in the illegal discharge of untreated wastewater and sewage into the environment through the public drains causing pollution and health risks to the immediate environment.
The exercise was carried out by the Agency’s personnel in synergy with officers from the Lagos State Taskforce and the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC).
The General Manager of the Agency, Engr. Adefemi Afolabi, speaking on the development, said it is disheartening to find notable establishments, polluting the environment and causing health hazards for the citizens of the State.
Engr. Afolabi emphasised that the Agency remains undeterred in its efforts to ensure a clean and healthy environment in the State.
The General Manager averred that this kind of situation will not be permitted as such Organisations will be sanctioned in line with the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017.
“This will serve as a deterrent to others who use the cover of the night to perpetuate environmental nuisance in the State, endangering the health and well-being of the citizens of the State”, he asserted.
